Leading CAD solution for electrical design since 1985
Since 1985, we have created ELPROCAD to offer Sweden’s electrical and automation industries a smarter and more efficient CAD tool. All our development is done in close collaboration with our users, driven by a passion for simplifying everyday technical life. Our long experience is a guarantee that our tool is truly adapted to your reality. ELPROCAD is used throughout the Nordic region and globally, with support and training close at hand.
It all started in the early 1980s when Elprojektbyrån Möller & Olson AB needed its own electrical application program for electrical schematic design, then for AutoCAD ver 1.2 and for internal use within the company. We were early with this type of program and many other companies in the industry became very interested. We then decided to form a new company, PROCAD Systems AB for marketing, sales of the program and to separate it from the electrical consulting business. The program was named ELPROCAD.
At ELFACK in the fall of 1985, the program was shown commercially for the first time. The program immediately received a good response for its working methodology. Having originally been a pure drawing program, the program development continued with functions for device lists in 1986, automatic connection tables in 1987, then in collaboration with Dikon Recognition Systems AB.
With AutoCAD’s popularity and increasing functionality, it also created opportunities with new features in ELPROCAD, adaptation to new operating systems, latest DOS, Windows, Sun.
Through a fruitful combination of professional experience in electrical engineering and qualified computer programming, the development of the program family continued.
When Autodesk came up with a cheaper version of its program, AutoCAD LT, sales of AutoCAD LT together with ELPROCAD really took off.
We also made an application for a CAD program called Generic Cadd at that time, which was also widely used. This program was later acquired by Autodesk.
As a complement to our programs that work with AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, in 2004 we released a program that works with an embedded CAD engine (IntelliCAD/BricsCAD), namely ELPROCAD ic Basic and ELPROCAD ic Pro. They were intended for companies that wanted a complete program with both electrical application and CAD program more integrated, at a good price.
Until then, we had only had programs for schematic drawing, such as circuit diagram, main circuit diagram, external connection diagram, assembly drawing and single-line diagram. Over the years we had received a lot of requests to also make an application for installation drawings.
We decided to do this in 2006 and after a very intensive development work we released ELPROCAD ic Plan in 2008. With the program you can make the most common types of installation drawings, ducting, power, lighting installation and telecommunications.
Now we had a complete family of programs for different types of electrical construction work and CAD platforms. In addition, we had programs with different levels of functionality for the different needs of companies. Now you could really talk about the ELPROCAD family.
Now we continue to develop our family of programs to meet the current and future needs of our customers.
In 2015, we turned 30 years old, at the same time there was a change of ownership and a generational change of staff. So, with new forces, we continue to be the electrical engineer’s best friend.
